Danakil Depression, also called Afar Depression, is a geological depression in the Horn of Africa, where it overlaps Eritrea, the Afar Region of Ethiopia, and Djibouti. Danakil is well known as one of the cradles of hominids, containing the Middle Awash, site of many fossil hominid discoveries, site of the world’s oldest stone tools, and Hadar, site of Lucy, the fossilized specimen of Australopithecus afarensis.
Erta-Ale means “Smoking Mountain” in the local Afar language and its southernmost pit is known locally as “the gateway to Hell”. Erta Ale is centered over the east African rift valley system and the volcano comprises mainly Mafic material which has been brought up to the surface caused by un roofing of the mantle due to the formation of the pull-apart basin
The small town of Lalibela in Ethiopia is home to one of the world’s most astounding sacred sites: eleven rock-hewn churches, each carved entirely out of a single block of granite with its roof at ground level.

Hamed Ela
Early in the morning fly to Mekele after some refreshment and preparation drive directly to Hamed ela via the small town of Berhale where you will finalize all the entrance process and trip crew.
Dallo
Crossing the salt road and the traditional salt extraction seen you will drive to the Dallol depression where you are able to see the colorful sulfur lake and landmark. Enjoy the view and drive back to Hamedila before the sun gets much hotter.
Erta Ale The Living Volcano
Early in the morning drive to Ertale via the salt and desert road racing against the sand stuck. Lunch will be at the local elder house ‘Gilisa’ where we finalize our trip to Ert-ale. Arriving at the Campsite where we leave our Vehicles, we will wait for the sun to cool down and trek for about 3 hours to enjoy the live Volcano with an amazing noise the whole night. Overnight will be on top of mount Ert – ale
Erta Ale – Mekele
Early the next morning, we descend Mount Ertale, returning to the base camp for a well-earned breakfast. We return to our vehicles and carry on to Mekele via the small towns of Habala and Erepti.
Fly to Lalibela
Fly to the Holly city of Lalibela on your arrival a brief check in to your Hotel and head to visit the mystical rock hewn churches of Lalibela. The small town of Lalibela in Ethiopia is home to one of the world’s most astounding sacred sites: eleven rock-hewn churches, each carved entirely out of a single block of granite with its roof at ground level.
Excursion Yimrhane Kirstos
After breakfast we drive to Yimrhane Kirstos through the small village of Bilbala. The built-up cave church of Yimrhane Kirstos itself predates the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela. This is one of the most beautiful and colorful cave churches, built from marble, wood and beautifully decorated from inside and outside with remarkable architectural skill. In the other side of the cave, you will also see many mummified bodies of pilgrims from centuries ago. The rest of the day is at leisure.
